NH Rec. Basketball Program  ::  REGISTER NOW >>

Our REC program is divided into 2 leagues – Girls and Boys and 3 divisions; 3rd & 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade and 7th & 8th grade. Brand new in 2014 was a high school division. Our REC program focuses on sportsmanship, equal playing time, and getting everyone involved in the game equally. We frown on runaway games and any one player dominating any game.

Season: December through Mid-March
Games/practices: any day of week except Sunday
Times: Weekday games are at 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM or possibly 8:00 PM. Saturday games can be from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

December is strictly for practices, games begin in January – Mid- March

First half of season games are instructional. No turnovers for minor infractions – traveling, double dribble, back court, etc. In the second half of the season turnovers are enforced.

Playoffs begin early March

The regular season runs through the first week of March. Then each division has a single elimination playoff with the finals taking place on a Saturday in Mid-March. The season ends with a Championship Saturday and Skills Competition. It’s an all-day event taking place in both Memorial School and Hawthorne High School. Boys and Girls Grades 3-6 take place in Memorial School, and 7 & 8 in Hawthorne High School. Before each championship game the children are welcome to compete in a skills competition against their friends and teammates in both a Free-throw and 3point shooting competition.

High School Division  ::  REGISTER NOW >>

Opponents: Other NH teams and Midland Park. We will continue to search for more opponents

2014 was our inaugural season for this division.  We had 2 boys teams that played games against each other and teams in Midland Park. This division is open to all high school age boys. (If there are enough girls interested, we would be happy forming a girl’s league as well). The boys seemed to enjoy the chance to continue their NH basketball experience and we are hopeful to continue this division again next year.

Season: January through Mid-March

Games and practices take place any day of week except Sunday in Memorial School or Midland Park’s Highland School or High School. Weekday games are normally 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM. Saturday games can be from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM

High School – Boys   Registration: $80

High School – Girls   Registration: $80

NH Travel Basketball

For those athletes looking for the chance to test their basketball skills against a higher level of competition, we have travel teams for both the girls and boys. The girls have 2 teams, a 5th & 6th grade team and a 7th & 8th grade team and are part of the Northwest Bergen Passaic Girls Basketball League.

The boys are part of the North Jersey Junior Basketball League. Depending on numbers and talent they will have 2-3 teams for grades 5 – 8.

While Travel basketball still revolves around sportsmanship, it is more competitive and has more of an emphasis on winning.

During the registration process please check the Travel Basketball box if you are interested in trying out for one of our teams.
